Mayor's Commentary - GW Stay Home Request & Special Cash Payments ¥100,000 (as of April 24)
■ In anticipation of the long holiday period
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the citizens of the city for their cooperation in refraining from leaving their houses for non-essential reasons.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of infection in Kasama City. However, the number of people infected with the coronavirus in Ibaraki Prefecture is 153 as of April 23, more than 10,000 people have been infected nationwide, and the infection continues to spread.
It is said that in order to stop this situation as soon as possible, it is necessary not only to avoid the "Three Cs" (closed spaces, crowded places, and close-contact settings) but also to reduce social contact by 80%.
We are about to enter the Golden Week period. I would like to reiterate that all citizens are urged to avoid leaving their house for non-essential reasons to protect the lives of everyone.
We believe that we have no choice but to continue to restrict the use of public facilities. Additionally, there are city projects that may be abruptly canceled or postponed without advance notice. We kindly ask for your understanding.
Meanwhile, medical professionals are fighting on the front lines to stop coronavirus. I bow my head and I am truly grateful. To express our gratitude and support, we have decided to join the "Light It Blue" campaign from April 28.
For the sake of yourself, others, and people you love, I would like to ask everyone to do everything they can and cooperate to bring the situation under control.
■ Special Cash Payments [¥100,000 Benefit]
The government is planning to provide 100,000 yen per eligible person as an "emergency economic measure in response to the new coronavirus infection".
Benefits can be applied for online or by mail and will be provided to the citizens through each municipality.
The national parliament will hold a meeting on April 30 to decide on the details of the payout. The City has created a project team to organize accepting online applications and proceed with the postal application to deliver the payouts to each of you as soon as possible.
