Mayor's Commentary - Booster (3rd dose) Vaccinations (2022/1/28)
Since the beginning of January, the number of people infected with the Omicron variant of COVID-19 has spiked across the country, with a record number of new cases per day in Kasama City.
In this situation, booster vaccinations (third dose), expected to prevent the onset and severity of infectious diseases effectively, are being offered to Kasama residents aged 18 and over who received their second dose at least seven months ago, according to the priority order.
Yesterday, January 27, Kasama City provided vaccinations to people aged 65 and over at a Temporary Early Public Vaccination Site. A total of 280 people came for vaccinations, compared to the planned 560.
Since the supply of Pfizer's vaccine is expected to be less than that for the first and second doses, Public Vaccination Sites in Kasama city is offering Moderna vaccines.
Although some people may put off getting vaccinated because of different vaccine brands, the government has approved the safety and effectiveness of "cross-vaccinations" with a different vaccine type from the one used in the first two doses.
I encourage all citizens to consider getting vaccinated.
