How to Dispose of Your Garbage (Make sure to take it out by 8 am!)
In Japan, there are different ways of collecting and disposing of garbage depending on what you are disposing of and where you live. Correctly disposing of your garbage is key to a clean environment. We also ask that everyone reuse and recycle whenever possible to reduce waste.

Garbage that is correctly sorted and separated will be collected at your collection spot. |
Before any oversized garbage will be collected, you must fill out an application form in person and purchase a label either at the Environmental Conservation Division (main office) or at the Kasama/Iwama Regional Branch Community Division ※Applications via phone will not be accepted. |
※The pink garbage bags and pink non-burnable garbage labels pictured above can be bought at most supermarkets and convenience stores. The blue oversized garbage labels, however, must be purchased at the city hall/branch office.
City Designated Containers (市指定のコンテナ, shi shitei no kontena)
As long as you use the city-specified containers like the ones pictured below, you can dispose of all recyclables and non-burnables in either container regardless of color. Please remember to use the containers with care so they can be reused.
(Previously, Tomobe and Iwama districts used white and green containers while Kasama district used blue containers. Note: Any other containers will not be accepted.)
