How to Dispose of Your Garbage (Make sure to take it out by 8 am!)
In Japan, there are different ways of collecting and disposing of garbage depending on what you are disposing of and where you live. Correctly disposing of your garbage is key to a clean environment. We also ask that everyone reuse and recycle whenever possible to reduce waste.

How to Dispose
|
Put all burnable trash in the bag pictured below. Small (20L) 10 bags: ¥100 Large (40L) 10 bags: ¥200

Put all non-burnables in the designated container and attach the label below to the container. 1 pack (5 labels): ¥200
|
Apply in person to a counter and purchase an oversized garbage disposal label. Please attach the label below directly to each item so it will be easily seen.
Small ￥500(1 label)⇒ length+height+width=3 less than 3m Large ￥1,000(2 labels)⇒ length+height+width=more than 3m 1 label: ¥500

Collection |
Garbage that is correctly sorted and separated will be collected at your collection spot. |
Before any oversized garbage will be collected, you must fill out an application form in person and purchase a label either at the Resources Recycling Division (Main Office) or at the Kasama/Iwama Regional Branch Community Division ※Applications via phone will not be accepted. |

※The pink garbage bags and pink non-burnable garbage labels pictured above can be bought at most supermarkets and convenience stores. The blue oversized garbage labels, however, must be purchased at the city hall (Main Office)/branch office.
City Designated Containers (市指定のコンテナ, shi shitei no kontena)
Before, in Tomobe/Iwama Districts, white containers were used for collection of Recyclables and green containers were used for collection of Non-Burnable Garbage, but in June 2020, they were replaced by blue containers.
Currently, regardless of the color of the container, recyclables and Non-Burnable Garbage can be disposed of in white, green, and blue containers.
