2022/3/6 Mimosa Day

 
March 8 is International Women's Day, designated by the United Nations.
The yellow mimosa flower is a well-known symbol of the day, and in some foreign countries, mimosa flowers are given to women as a token of appreciation.
Anticipating International Women's Day, Kasama City Hall's Main Office was decorated with mimosa flowers on March 6.
The mimosa symbolizes gratitude, friendship, and grace.
How about showing your appreciation to the women around you on this day to honor the courage and determination of the women who have fulfilled outstanding roles in our society?
Kasama City will continue its efforts to create a diverse society where all can play an active role regardless of gender.
 
【ミモザの日】
3月8日は国連が定めた国際女性デー。
黄色いミモザの花がシンボルとして親しまれており、海外では女性に感謝をこめてミモザの花を贈る国もあるそうです。
そんな国際女性デーに合わせて、3月6日に市役所本所にミモザの花を飾りました。
ミモザの花言葉は感謝・友情・優雅など。
すばらしい役割を担ってきた女性たちによってもたらされた、勇気と決断を称える日に、周囲の女性に感謝を伝えてみては☺️
市では今後も、性別にかかわりなく誰もが活躍できるダイバーシティ社会の実現を目指し取り組んでいきます。

 

2022/3/2 The bus service test run is underway

 
Bus service test run between JR Iwama Station West Exit and JR Tomobe Station (via Michi-no-Eki Kasama) and back (via Michi-no-Eki Kasama) is underway until March 31.
Five rides will run daily between 9am and 4pm, so please take advantage of it!
The trial service is free of charge. Please fill out the questionnaire when you ride the bus.

2022/3/1 Spring National Fire Prevention Campaign

 
From March 1 to 7, the Spring National Fire Prevention Campaign will be held nationwide.
The scary thing about fires is that they can spread to neighboring houses, and in many cases, many people can be killed at once.

【春の全国火災予防運動が実施中】
3月1日から7日まで「お出かけは　マスク戸締り　火の用心」を統一標語に、全国一斉に春の全国火災予防運動が実施されます。
火災の怖いところは、延焼により近隣住宅等へ被害が拡大することや、一度に多くの人が犠牲になるケースが少なくないことです。
お出かけ前、おやすみ前には火の元の確認をお願いします。
また、逃げ遅れを防ぐため、住宅には住宅用火災警報器を設置しましょう。

毎年1～2月に「はたちの献血」キャンペーンを実施し、「はたち」の若者を中心に、より多くの方に献血にご協力いただけるよう、全国で呼びかけを行っています。
血液は人工的に造ることができず長期間保存することもできません。安定的に血液製剤を届けるためには、日々多くの方の協力が必要です。

Around 8:00 am today, January 6, there was a collision between a train and a light car between Uchihara and Tomobe Stations on the JR Joban Line.

【JR常磐線が一部不通になっています】
本日1月6日午前8時ころ、JR常磐線の内原駅～友部駅間で、電車と軽自動車の接触事故がありました。
この影響で、JR常磐線が上下線とも一部不通となっています。
 

2022/12/22 Traffic fatalities have increased


From November to December (As of Dec.18), 23 traffic accidents occurred in Ibaraki Prefecture, resulting in 24 deaths.
The number of traffic fatalities over the year also increased to 89, up from 80 last year.
Most serious accidents occur at dusk and nighttime.
Dear drivers, please turn on the lights early and use high-beam headlights when there is no oncoming traffic.
Dear pedestrians, please wear bright clothing and reflective items.
Let's keep in mind traffic safety rules during the hectic New Year period to prevent traffic accidents.
 
【交通死亡事故が多発しています】
県内では11月・12月(18日まで)に23件、24名が亡くなる交通事故が発生しています。年間の交通事故による死亡者数も昨年の80名を上回り、89名となっています。
死亡・重症事故は、夕暮れ時から夜間にかけて多く発生しています。
ドライバーはライトを早めに点灯し、対向車などがいない時はライトを上向きにして運転しましょう。
歩行者は明るい服装や反射材を着用しましょう。
年末年始の慌ただしい時こそ交通安全を心がけ、交通事故防止に努めましょう。
 

2022/12/22 Response to the bird flu outbreak at a poultry farm in Kasama City

 
Yesterday, December 21, a highly pathogenic avian influenza strain was confirmed in chickens on a poultry farm in Kasama City as a result of a simple test and a genetic test.
Therefore, Ibaraki Prefecture and related organizations started quarantine measures for approximately 110,000 chickens kept on the farm from 8:00 am on December 22 (Thu).
A quarantine support center has been set up at the Kasama Civic Gymnasium, and city staff will be engaged in epidemic control work.
Since no cases of the virus being transmitted to humans by eating infected chicken or eggs have been reported in Japan, we ask all citizens to stay calm and check reliable information sources.

【市内養鶏場での鳥インフルエンザ発生に伴う対応について】
笠間市内の養鶏場内の鶏について、昨日12月21日に高病原性鳥インフルエンザ簡易検査及び遺伝子検査の結果、高病原性鳥インフルエンザへの疑似患畜が確認されました。
このため、農場内で飼養している鶏約11万羽に対する防疫措置が、茨城県を中心とした関係団体により、12月22日（木曜日）午前8時から開始されました。
なお、笠間市民体育館に防疫支援センターが設置されたことから、市では、防疫措置の完了に向けて当面の間、職員が防疫作業に従事します。
高病原性鳥インフルエンザに感染した鶏肉や卵を食べたことでウイルスが人に感染した事例は国内では報告されていませんので、市民の皆さんには、正確な情報により冷静な対応をお願いします。

▼疑似患畜（ぎじかんちく）とは
患畜となるおそれのある家畜をいいます。高病原性鳥インフルエンザ又は低病原性鳥インフルエンザや口蹄疫などの疑似患畜は、患畜と同様に所有者にと殺の義務があります。

"Eco Commuting Challenge Week" is held to promote the use of public transportation and raise awareness of global warming issues.
Please try using trains, local buses, bicycles, shared bikes, and cars as much as possible instead of private cars and motorcycles.

2022/12/16 Lock your doors, don't stay silent, and be ready to act

 
The End of the Year Crime Prevention Campaign is held from December 17 to 31.
People tend to pay less attention to security in December as they are busy preparing for the New Year's holidays. Therefore criminals become more active during this period.
The number of crimes reported in Kasama City as of the end of October is exceptionally high: 17 cases of residential burglary and 26 car theft cases.
Also, fake phone scams continue to occur, and the number of victims in the Ibaraki prefecture has increased by 17 cases compared to last year.
Please stay alert and aware of your safety and crime prevention actions!

The "Moving City Hall" is a vehicle equipped with a window service that allows you to apply for a My Number Card. It will head to Fukuhara Post Office and Kasama Shopping Center PolePole City.

National Autumn Road Safety Campaign runs from September 21 to 30.
The Michi-no-Eki Kasama roadside station hosted an awareness-raising event on the first day.
Visitors experienced a simulated car crash and "drunk goggles" activity and were encouraged to pay more attention to road safety.
Let's follow traffic rules and prevent road accidents.

【秋の全国交通安全運動実施中！】
9月21日（水曜日）から30日（金曜日）まで、「秋の全国交通安全運動」を実施中です。
初日の21日、笠間警察署をはじめ多くの団体の協力のもと、道の駅かさまで啓発キャンペーンを開催しました。
模擬衝突体験や酒酔い体験などが行われ、道の駅の来場者に交通安全を呼びかけました。
交通ルールを守り、事故防止に努めましょう。

Child Support Center has invited Ms. Ryoko Chiba, a manga artist raising a child with developmental dyslexia, and Akira Uno, a leading Japanese clinical and research specialist, to hold a public lecture and discussion.

Today, July 11 (Mon), at 11:48 am threat message was sent through the contact form on Kasama City's homepage.
◆Summary of the email:
・The sender requests to cancel the exhibition to be held in Aichi Prefecture on July 16. Otherwise, they threat kidnap children in Kasama on July 16.
・Phosgene automatic sprinklers have been installed at the City Hall and other municipal facilities.
◆Response by Kasama City:
1. Information was reported to the Kasama Police Department,
2. Warning notices were issued at city day-care centers, kindergartens, schools, etc. The facilities will contact parents/guardians individually.
3. City Hall and other facilities will be checked for malfunctions, and alerts will be issued.

2022/6/29 City Hall also makes efforts to save electricity

 

Today, June 29th (Wed), the Power shortage advisory has extended to the service area of Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), especially from 3 pm to 8 pm.
Please continue saving electricity and turn off lights when you don't need them. However, please remember to use air conditioning and drink enough liquids to prevent heat exhaustion.

City Hall takes the following actions:

  • Keeping room temperature at 28°C in public facilities.
  • Turning off computers and other devices when not in use
  • Turning off lights in unused meeting rooms, hallways, etc.
  • Turning off part of the lights where it does not affect office work.
  • Turning off lights during lunch breaks and after hours
  • Turning off all lights when leaving the office on No-Overtime Day (every Tuesday)
  • Encouraging employees to leave the office in time (5:15 pm.)

2022/6/25 Kasama City received a kidnapping threat email

 
On June 24 (Fri) at around 9 pm, a threat message was sent through the contact form on Kasama City's homepage.

※Similar threats have been confirmed in several municipalities in the prefecture.

◆Summary of the email:
・On June 28, kindergartners and female school students will be kidnapped on their way to and from school in the City.

・Sodium hydroxide was added to the sprinklers at the City Hall and other municipal facilities.

◆Response by Kasama City:
1. Information was reported to the Kasama Police Department, and enhanced security measures were requested.
2. Warning notices will be issued at city kindergartens, elementary and junior high schools, etc. Vigilance will be enhanced in surrounding areas.
3. Each nursery school/kindergarten, elementary and junior high school, etc., will contact parents/guardians individually.
4. Sprinklers managed by Kasama City were checked for any malfunctions.
5. Checking the water tanks at facilities is in progress.

2022/6/3 Work together to keep each other safe

 
A lecture connected to the Ibaraki Citizens Summer Campaign for Traffic Accident Prevention was held at the Kasama Library on June 2.
The event was organized by Kasama City Terazaki Senior Citizens Association, Kasama City Katsuta Self-Defense Forces Association, and Kasama Area Self-Defense Forces Family Association.
The representative from the police department, the Ibaraki Road Safety Council, and the Self-Defense Forces spoke about "safety around us and safety in the nation."
Mr. Watanabe, Chief of the Traffic Division at the Kasama Police Station, stressed that drivers should pay attention to the protection of pedestrians, and pedestrians should express their intention clearly before crossing the street.
 
【みんなで安全を守りあう】
夏の交通事故防止県民運動を記念した講演会が6月2日、笠間図書館で行われました。
寺崎高齢者クラブ、笠間市勝田自衛隊協力会、笠間地区自衛隊家族会が主催となる講演会で、「身の周りの安全と国の安全」について、警察署や県安全運転管理協会、自衛隊関係者からお話しがありました。
笠間警察署交通課 渡辺課長は「車を運転する人は歩行者保護意識を持ち、歩行者は横断歩道を渡る時などに意思表示をしっかりとしましょう」と話し、「『その手で合図、止まってくれてありがとう作戦』にみんなで取り組みましょう」と参加者に呼びかけました。

2022/4/6 All Japan Spring Traffic Safety Campaign


All Japan Spring Traffic Safety Campaign is held from April 6 to 15.
The Michi-no-Eki Kasama roadside station hosted an awareness-raising event on the first day.
Visitors experienced a simulated car crash, took a lecture on how to cross a pedestrian crossing safely, and were encouraged to pay more attention to road safety.

2022/3/25 Attention! Many phone scams were reported today

 
Many people in Kasama City receive suspicious phone calls from people claiming to be their sons or hospital staff.
The scammers tell lies like "Your son has a throat disease. He is under anesthesia and cannot speak," and then demand money for medical treatment.
If you receive such a call, hang up the phone and call your family or the police at 110 for advice.
It is also effective to set your phone to "answering machine setting" to avoid calls from criminals.
Please share this information with your family, friends, and neighbors to help prevent crimes.,
 
【注意！本日ニセ電話詐欺が多数かけられています】
市内で、病院職員や息子を名乗る人物からの不審な電話が多数かけられています。
「息子さんがのどの病気です。麻酔をかけており声が出せません」
などと話を進めて、治療費の名目で金銭を要求してきます。
このような電話があった場合は、一度電話を切り、家族や警察に110番通報をして相談しましょう。
犯人からの電話を受けないように「留守番電話設定」にすることも有効です。
家族・友人・近所の方とも情報を共有し、犯罪被害の防止にご協力ください。

2022/3/14 Pedestrians have the right of way at crosswalks without traffic signals

 

Kasama City has installed a LED flashing light crosswalk system and tricky crosswalks at three uncontrolled pedestrian crossings as a new initiative to ensure pedestrian safety.

Pushing a button activates the LED crosswalk system's flashing signals, which alerts drivers that pedestrians are crossing the road and urge them to make a stop.
Adding the appropriate shading to a crosswalk makes it look 3D. Such "tricky crosswalks" are designed to make drivers slow down when approaching a pedestrian crossing.

Pedestrians have the right of way at crosswalks without traffic signals too.

For mutual safety, let's pay attention to each other on the roads.

LED横断意思表示灯は、ボタンを押すと上部のLEDが点滅し、歩行者が道路を横断していることを運転手に知らせて一時停止を促します。
トリックアート横断歩道は、既存の横断歩道に立体的に見える塗装を加え、運転手の注意を引き減速を促すものです。
信号機のない横断歩道も歩行者が優先です。

2022/1/18 Kasama will unify the garbage drop-off facilities and fees

In addition to the normal collection, you may also drop off garbage at your local garbage facility directly.
From April 1, the waste drop-off facility in the Kasama area will be changed to the "Kankyo Center" Garbage Disposal Facility. This means residents of all districts (Tomobe, Iwama, Kasama) will use the same drop-off location.
Also, to promote waste control and recycling, the garbage disposal fee for bringing in the garbage will be revised, and the free category will be abolished.

2021/12/16 Raising crime prevention awareness

The End of the Year Crime Prevention Campaign is held from December 17 to 31.
In December, people tend to pay less attention to security as they are busy preparing for the New Year's holidays. Therefore criminals become more active during this period.
The number of crimes reported in Kasama City as of the end of October is extremely high: 29 cases of residential burglary and 39 car theft cases.
There have also been countless fake phone scams. The total damage in the prefecture exceeds 400 million yen.
Please stay alert and aware of your safety and crime prevention actions even during this busy season!
 
【年末は防犯意識を高めましょう】
12月17日（金曜日）から31日（金曜日）は年末の犯罪抑止活動期間です。
12月は年末年始に向けた準備等で防犯意識も希薄になりがちで、それを狙った犯罪が発生しやすい時期です。
笠間市の10月末現在の犯罪認知件数は、住宅侵入窃盗が29件、自動車盗は39件と、非常に高い数字となっています。
また、依然としてニセ電話詐欺の発生も後を絶たず、県内の被害額は4億円を超えている状況です。
市民一人ひとりが防犯意識を持ち、犯罪の未然防止に努めましょう。

The End of the Year Trafic Accident Prevention Campaign is held from December 1 to 15.
Let's all keep in mind road safety importance and make it a habit to follow the traffic rules.
 
Campaign slogan: Whether you drink or make someone drink, you are equally guilty.

Key points of the campaign

・Preventing traffic accidents involving children and the elderly (especially on pedestrian crossings)
Pedestrians have the right-of-way at crosswalks (=pedestrian crossings).
Drivers should stop when pedestrians are in the crosswalk, and pedestrians should use the crosswalk to cross the road.

・Preventing traffic accidents at dusk and night
December has the shortest hours of daylight. Therefore, drivers should turn on their lights earlier, and pedestrians should wear reflective items.

・End drunk driving
After drinking alcohol, your ability to process information, pay attention, and make judgments, all of which are necessary for safe driving, are impaired, increasing the risk of a traffic accident. Therefore, do not drive after drinking alcohol, and do not make or let others do so.

飲酒時には、安全運転に必要な情報処理能力、注意力、判断力などが低下している状態になり交通事故に結びつく危険性を高めます。「飲酒運転は絶対にしない、させない」を守りましょう。

There has been an increase in the number of "nude selfie victims" who are threatened or tricked into taking pictures of themselves naked and sending them via e-mail, social media, or other means. It has been rising year by year all over Japan, including Ibaraki.
Most of the victims are junior high school and high school students.

To prevent your loved ones from becoming victims, share information and follow the "Don't take! Don't send! Don't demand!" rule.

2021/7/23 Ibaraki Citizens Summer Campaign for Trafic Accident Prevention

The Summer Campaign for Trafic Accident Prevention is being held from July 20 to 31. On the first day, local police and members of related organizations distributed awareness-raising items to drivers in the Iwama area.
In summer, drunk and reckless driving accidents occur more often.

Let's keep traffic rules and drive safely!

1) Protecting pedestrians (especially children and the elderly)
2) Stopping drunk and dangerous driving

【夏の交通事故防止県民運動実施中】
7月20日から31日まで、夏の交通事故防止県民運動を実施しています。初日は、岩間地区で立哨やドライバーに対し啓発品配布を行い、交通安全を呼びかけました。
夏は、暑さや行楽などによる疲労や季節特有の解放感による飲酒運転や無謀運転等を原因とする交通事故の発生が懸念されます。
ひとり一人が交通ルールを守り、正しい交通マナーを実践しましょう。
■スローガン：あぶないよ 画面見ないで 前を見て
■運動の重点
（1）歩行者（特に子供と高齢者）の保護
（2）妨害運転や飲酒運転等の悪質・危険な運転の根絶
（3）自転車の安全利用の推進

Many suspicious phone calls have been reported in Kasama City, which appeared to be fraud calls.
If you feel anything suspicious, please hang up the phone and call the numbers below!
Scammers invent different "stories." A person claiming to be your son or a city employee may ask you for your money or your cash card or say that you can get a cashback for your insurance, etc.

2021/4/23 Fire Hazard! Please separate li-ion batteries

Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries, etc., mixed in with non-combustible garbage have caused fires at waste disposal facilities.
When disposing of electronic devices, please make sure that there are no li-ion batteries, etc., left inside.
 

Please use specified collection boxes placed at dealers and other cooperating supermarkets and shops.
※Smartphones and other small home appliances with built-in batteries are also collected at the Kasama City Hall main office and branch offices.

Seven Home Fire Safety Tips

Three Habits:

1. Never smoke in bed
2. Keep heaters away from flammables
3. Never leave stovetop cooking unattended. When you leave the cooking area, turn the flame off

Four Prevention Measures

1. Install a fire alarm in your home to have enough time to escape
2. Use fire retardant bedding, clothes, curtains, and other items to protect your home from fire
3. Install fire extinguishers to put out a fire while it is still small
4. Create a neighborhood that cares for the elderly, physically challenged persons, and other people who might need help

これから火災が発生しやすい時季をむかえます。
皆さん火の用心をお願いします。
3月1日～7日は「春の全国火災予防運動」期間です。
〈住宅防火　いのちを守る7つのポイント〉
〇3つの習慣
　(1)寝たばこは、絶対にやめる。
　(2)ストーブは、燃えやすいものから離れた位置で使用する。
　(3)ガスコンロなどのそばを離れるときは必ず火を消す。
〇4つの対策
　(1)逃げ遅れを防ぐために、住宅用火災警報器を設置する。
　(2)寝具・衣類・カーテンから火災を防ぐために防炎品を使用する。
　(3)火災を小さいうちに消すために住宅用消火器等を設置する。
　(4)お年寄りや身体の不自由な人を守るために隣近所の協力体制をつくる。
